What kinds of pets can stay at Mace House? Cats that can stay indoors and well-behaved, small-to- medium-sized dogs will be happy there. All pets must be completely housebroken and flea-free, of course. Keep your pets inside except when walking on a leash with you. We need the pets to stay inside when not on the leash because of neighborhood regulations, but also because free-running animals can be lost in the woods. We are right beside a large natural tract, and wandering pets could be injured or worse if they encounter coyotes, owls, hawks, raccoons, snakes, and other predators. Alligators do not live in salt water, but there are fresh-water ponds in the woods.
Dogs must stay on the leash at all times out of doors, although on the beach at Pawley's you may have your dog off the leash September-May, and during the summer, before 8 AM and after 8 PM. In the Waterford Heights neighborhood, we must keep the dogs leashed at all times. Unfortunately, we don't have a fenced-in yard, so your dog will have to be content without any free running. NOTE: If you have a dog with long fur, we'll ask for an additional $25 cleaning fee, because cleaning up the shed fur takes our housecleaner much extra time.
Scoop your dog's poop! Please don't let your dog leave surprises in the neighbors' yards. Take along a plastic baggy so you can bring the poop home and deposit it in the garbage can at the house.
